Manila Aquarium Guide: Worth It?

Manila’s main aquarium is a decent half-day activity if you’re stuck in the city with kids or want something air-conditioned. Expect a mid-sized facility with decent shark tunnels, coral displays, touch pools, and a few themed sections. It gets crowded on weekends and holidays with loud local groups; weekdays are calmer. The experience is straightforward: walk at your own pace, watch fish, maybe catch a short feeding show. It’s not world-class but it’s clean, modern enough, and beats wandering in Manila heat.

Best time is December to February when it’s cooler and slightly less humid. Avoid rainy season peaks if you dislike indoor crowds. Expect to pay around 800-1300 pesos per adult including basic entry and one add-on like the tunnel or oceanarium combo; kids are cheaper. Transport and food inside will add more.

Honest tip: get the combo ticket that includes the main aquarium plus the nearby bird and reptile area if it’s offered – it’s better value and gives variety. Skip the overpriced souvenir photos and gimmicky extras like virtual reality shows; they’re rarely worth it. Bring your own snacks if allowed, wear comfortable shoes, and go early to beat the school groups.
