The Osaka aquarium is a solid half-day activity if you like marine life. Expect a massive central tank with whale sharks gliding overhead, plus smaller exhibits with penguins, otters, jellyfish, and reef fish. The walk-through is straightforward and well-signed in English. Crowds can be heavy around the whale shark feeding times and on weekends, so the experience feels more peaceful early morning or on weekdays. It's modern, clean, and easy to navigate, but it does get noisy with school groups.

Best time to go is spring (March-May) or autumn (September-November) when Osaka weather is mild and tourist numbers are lower than summer holidays. Expect to pay around ¥2,500-3,500 per adult including basic entry; add a bit more for fast-track tickets or combined passes with other Osaka attractions. Kids are cheaper, and children under 4 usually enter free.

Tip: Buy skip-the-line tickets online in advance – the regular queue can easily eat 45 minutes on busy days.
