The tunnel is genuinely impressive - you stand on a moving walkway while sharks glide overhead - but the place can feel crowded on weekends and school holidays. It's well-maintained with decent information panels, though it's more of a classic aquarium than a mind-blowing wildlife experience.

The best time to visit is during the shoulder seasons (March-May or September-November) when crowds are lighter and prices tend to be more reasonable. Summer gets very busy. Expect to pay around NZ$35-55 for a standard adult ticket; children are roughly half price and family packages can bring the per-person cost down.
