Argosy Harbor Cruise in Seattle: Worth It?

A standard Argosy harbor cruise lasts about an hour and takes you in a counterclockwise loop around Elliott Bay. You’ll see the working port, container ships, the waterfront skyline, and get a running commentary on Seattle’s maritime history and current port activity. The boats are large, stable, and have indoor seating plus open upper decks. Expect a mix of tourists and locals; it’s informative without being overly touristy. Bring binoculars if you have them—the narrated sights are better when you can pick out details on shore or spot sea lions on buoys.

Best time is late spring through early fall when days are longer and weather is more reliable. Summer evenings give you sunset views over the Olympics but book up fast. Winter sails are cheaper and far less crowded, though you’ll likely stay inside and visibility can be limited by rain. Expect to pay around $35–$55 per adult depending on season, time of day, and whether you bundle it with other attractions.

Tip: sit on the starboard (right) side outbound for the best views of the city and mountains on clear days. Skip the overpriced snacks and drinks on board—grab something quick at the waterfront before you sail. If you already have a CityPASS, use it here; the harbor cruise is one of the stronger inclusions.
