A large walk-through aviary in the middle of the city, the bird park houses around 3,000 birds from over 200 species across 20 acres of landscaped grounds. Expect plenty of hornbills, parrots, peacocks, and flamingos, plus a few raptors and water birds. It feels more like a relaxed garden stroll than a zoo; you walk at your own pace under netting with birds flying overhead. It’s genuinely pleasant for an hour or two, especially if you like birds or want a green break from the city heat and traffic. However, it’s not a world-class wildlife experience—if you’ve seen big aviaries in other countries you might find it familiar rather than spectacular.
Best time to visit is early morning (before 10am) to avoid the worst heat and crowds; dry season (June to September) is slightly more comfortable though it rarely pours hard enough to ruin a visit. Expect to pay around RM 50–80 per adult for entry, more if you add transport or combine it with nearby parks or a half-day tour from the city center. One solid tip: skip the paid bird shows unless you have kids—they’re short and not especially impressive. Do bring binoculars if you own compact ones; the free-roaming hornbills and smaller birds are far more enjoyable up close with magnification.
