Boat Trip to Cloud 9 in Nadi: Worth It?

The boat trip to Cloud 9 takes you about an hour out from Port Denarau to a large floating platform in a shallow atoll. Expect loud music, a bar, wood-fired pizzas, inflatable toys, and a waterslide. The platform has shaded loungers, a small upper deck, and decent snorkeling right underneath if the tide is right. It’s a full-day party venue rather than a quiet tropical escape – the sound system starts early and stays on. Most people swim, drink, eat, and lounge until the last boat back in the late afternoon.

Best time is May to October when the weather is drier and seas are calmer. The wet season (Nov–Apr) can mean rougher rides and occasional cancellations. Expect to pay around FJD 250–380 per person for a day trip including boat transfers, platform access, lunch, and a few drinks. Private transfers from Nadi hotels add extra.

Pick the standard all-inclusive day trip if you just want to relax and swim. Skip the overnight or “premium” packages unless you really need the extra time – the platform gets repetitive after a few hours. Bring reef-safe sunscreen, a waterproof bag for your phone, and earplugs if you’re noise-sensitive. Go early on the first boat to claim a good spot before the crowds arrive.
