It's social and low-key—most groups are a mix of couples, small friend groups, and solo travelers. The guides tend to be knowledgeable without being stuffy.

Best time is late spring through early fall (May–September) when the weather is good for walking and many breweries have lively patios. Summer weekends get crowded, so book ahead. Expect to pay around $60–$85 per person for a standard guided tour that includes the tastings; add a bit more if you want food pairings or a private group. Skip the big bus tours that hit the same four giant breweries everyone already knows—opt instead for the smaller walking tours that visit neighborhood spots with better variety.
