A typical Doha city tour lasts 3-5 hours and takes you by comfortable air-conditioned van or bus past the city's main sights: the Corniche waterfront, Souq Waqif, the Museum of Islamic Art, Katara Cultural Village, and often a quick stop at The Pearl or Lusail. Expect a mix of driving commentary and short photo stops; you won't spend more than 30-45 minutes at any one place. It's efficient if you're short on time or don't want to navigate the heat and traffic yourself, but it stays fairly surface-level. You see the polished modern skyline and a curated version of old Doha, not the everyday life of the city.
November to March is by far the best window; daytime temperatures are pleasant (20-28°C) and you can actually enjoy walking around the souq. In summer it's brutally hot and most tours shorten the outdoor portions. Expect to pay around $35-80 per person depending on group size, inclusions (lunch, entry tickets) and whether it's a private or shared tour. Private tours for couples or families sit at the higher end.
Pick a morning tour to avoid the worst heat and crowds. Skip the full-day versions that tack on the inland desert or Pearl-Qatar unless you're genuinely interested; they're mostly filler and you'll spend a lot of time in traffic. If you're staying more than two nights, doing the souq and Corniche independently is usually more rewarding and cheaper.
