Felsenegg Lookout Hike from Zurich

Felsenegg offers one of the quickest and most satisfying escapes from Zurich. The hike itself is gentle—about 45–60 minutes uphill on a well-maintained forest path from the Adliswil side or a shorter cable car option. At the top you get sweeping views across Lake Zurich, the city, and on clear days the Alps. It’s popular with both locals and visitors but rarely feels overcrowded once you step off the main lookout platform. The trail is family-friendly and stroller-able in parts, though proper shoes are still smart after rain.

Best time is late spring through early autumn (May–October). Evenings in summer are especially nice for sunset, but bring a jacket; it can get windy. Expect to pay around $15–40 per person total. The cheapest way is public transport plus the short hike (around $15–20 round-trip from central Zurich). Adding the cable car one way bumps it to $25–30. Guided small-group tours start around $90–110 if you want zero planning.

Honest tip: Skip the overpriced restaurant at the top and bring a sandwich or buy something simple from the kiosk instead. Do take the cable car down instead of walking both ways—your knees will thank you. If the weather forecast isn’t at least mostly sunny, pick another day; the views are the whole point.
