The Berlin TV Tower (Fernsehturm) sticks out 368 meters above the city and gives you 360-degree views from its observation deck and rotating restaurant. Expect tight security queues, a fast elevator ride, and a crowded platform where most people stay 20-40 minutes snapping photos. The view is genuinely impressive on clear days – you can see the whole city layout, surrounding lakes, and sometimes as far as Potsdam. On hazy or rainy days it’s noticeably less exciting. The tower is especially popular at sunset, which means long lines in the late afternoon.
Expect to pay around €25-€35 per adult for a standard timed ticket including the elevator; kids are cheaper. Book a slot in advance if you can. Best time to visit is spring or early autumn on a weekday morning shortly after opening – fewer crowds and better chance of clear skies. Summer weekends get packed. Skip the restaurant unless you want overpriced drinks with a slowly turning view; the food isn’t memorable and you’ll spend more time than you probably want up there.
Honest tip: if you’re already doing the Reichstag dome (free, bookable) or a high-floor hotel bar with views, the tower is skippable. But if you want the classic “I was in Berlin” panorama shot and don’t mind the cost, go once on a clear morning and get it done early.
