Most flower farm visits from Bogota are half-day tours to nurseries and fields in the Sabana de Bogota, about 1-2 hours away. Expect a guided walk through greenhouses packed with roses, carnations, chrysanthemums and orchids, plus a basic explanation of Colombia’s massive flower export industry. You’ll usually get time to take photos, sometimes cut a few stems yourself, and end with a chance to buy fresh flowers or bouquets. It’s pleasant and low-key rather than spectacular; think working farm rather than Instagram paradise. The experience pairs well with a coffee farm visit if you want a full day.
Best time is December to March when the weather is drier and many flowers are in peak bloom; avoid the heavy April-May and October-November rains if possible. Expect to pay around $90–160 per person for a small-group tour including transport from the city. Private tours sit at the higher end.
Tip: choose a tour that includes actual field or greenhouse time over ones that are mostly transport and a quick nursery walk-through. Skip the souvenir shops at the end unless you really need cheap roses to take home; the quality is better at the central market in Bogota if you want flowers for your hotel.
