The main exhibit loop takes 2–3 hours at a comfortable pace. It gets crowded, especially around the viewing windows, and the lighting is dim, so bring a lightweight jacket and patience. The experience feels more like a serious aquarium than a theme park.

Best time to visit is weekday mornings from September to early December or after mid-January. Summer and holiday weekends are packed and the wait times for popular exhibits double. Expect to pay around $55–75 per adult for a basic ticket; add $10–20 if you want the “all access” or behind-the-scenes options. Kids under 3 are free, but there are rarely big discounts for seniors or youth.
