Giraffe Feeding in Orlando: Worth It?

The giraffe feeding experience near Orlando is a hands-on animal encounter where you stand on a raised platform or truck bed and hand-feed acacia leaves to giraffes. Expect the actual feeding part to last 10–15 minutes. Most tours combine it with a broader safari-style drive through a ranch that also has zebra, antelope, and other African animals. It’s a genuinely pleasant, low-key activity that feels more personal than a typical zoo visit, but it’s not a wild safari — the animals are habituated to people and the setting is clearly a managed ranch. The whole visit usually takes 1.5 to 2.5 hours including travel time on the property.

Best time to go is winter (December–February) when it’s cooler and the animals are more active; summers are hot, humid, and the giraffes can be less enthusiastic. Expect to pay around $70–$110 per adult depending on whether you choose the basic feeding or the longer private tour with additional animals. Kids are usually a bit less. One honest tip: book the version that includes the actual feeding platform or truck rather than just a “safari drive with possible giraffe sighting” — the difference in experience is huge. Skip any add-on photo packages; your guide will almost always take decent pictures for you with your own phone.
