Helix Bridge Walk in Singapore: Worth It?

The Helix Bridge is a striking 280m pedestrian link between Marina Bay Sands and the Gardens by the Bay area. Expect a 20-40 minute stroll with decent views of the bay, the Singapore skyline, and the supertrees. It's exposed, so you'll feel the heat and humidity. The bridge itself is the main draw—its DNA-like structure looks impressive, especially when lit at night—but the walk is short and can feel crowded with tourists taking selfies. It's easy to combine with a loop around the Merlion or a visit to the Science Centre if you want more substance.

Best time is late afternoon through evening (around 5-8pm) when the heat drops and the lights come on. Avoid midday unless you're there in the cooler months of December to February. Expect to pay around $0 if you do it independently, or $40-70 per person if you join a guided walking tour that includes the bridge plus nearby sights like the Civic District or Gardens by the Bay.

Tip: Do the bridge at dusk as part of a self-guided loop from Marina Bay Sands to the Gardens—skip the overpriced guided tours unless you really want local stories. Bring water and wear comfortable shoes; the metal grate can get hot. It's a nice 30-minute photo stop but not a destination in itself.
