Expect a self-guided tour that takes 30-45 minutes: wander the restored courtrooms, see the old jail cells in the basement, and read the interpretive panels about famous trials held here. It's more atmospheric than thrilling—quiet, dignified, and genuinely historic rather than theme-park polished. The surrounding plaza is pleasant for people-watching afterward.

Best time to visit is weekday mornings in spring or fall when it's cooler and less crowded. Summers can be uncomfortably hot, and weekends are busier with wedding parties using the grounds for photos. Expect to pay around $8–15 total per person including parking in nearby lots or metered street spaces; the building itself is free to enter.
