Hot Springs Mud Bath in Nadi: Worth It?

The mud bath experience near Nadi is straightforward and messy in the best way. You smear cool, mineral-rich grey mud all over your body (including face and hair if you want), then stand or sit in the sun until it dries and cracks. After that you rinse off in a warm pool or shower before soaking in the natural hot springs. The whole thing takes about 90 minutes. The mud feels silky at first then tightens as it dries; the springs are hot but not scalding, usually around 38–40°C. It's fun, slightly ridiculous, and leaves your skin feeling soft afterward. Expect a very natural, basic setup with simple changing areas and outdoor pools rather than a luxury spa.

Best time to go is the dry season from May to October when the weather is cooler and sunnier - you'll dry faster and feel more comfortable. Expect to pay around FJD 25–60 per person depending on whether it's just the mud pool and springs or includes transport and a guide from Nadi. One solid tip: choose the basic mud-and-springs option only; skip any add-on 'massages' which are usually just perfunctory and not worth the extra money. Bring a dark swimsuit you don't mind staining and a plastic bag for your muddy clothes on the way back.
