Is Isaac's Lobster Dinner Cruise Worth It?

This is a working-style lobster boat trip that leaves from Boston Harbor. You spend about 90 minutes cruising around the islands while the crew pulls up a few lobster traps, explains what they're doing, and then serves a simple lobster dinner on board. Expect a very casual vibe—think picnic tables, paper plates, and butter everywhere. The lobsters are steamed right there; you get one lobster, corn, potatoes, and rolls. It's genuinely hands-on: you might help measure a lobster or hold one if you're into that. The harbor views are decent, especially at sunset, but it's not a luxury yacht experience. It's popular with families and couples who want something different from the usual duck boat tour.

Best time is late spring through early fall (May–September). Evenings are nicest for the light and cooler temperatures. Summer weekends book up fast. Expect to pay around $90–$130 per adult depending on the evening and whether you add drinks. Kids are cheaper, around $50–$70. It's not the cheapest meal in Boston but the boat ride is included.

Tip: go for the sunset cruise if you can—same food, much better atmosphere. Skip the add-on cocktails; they're overpriced and the boat can get a little rocky. If you're not into touching sea creatures, just watch instead of participating. Bring a light jacket even in summer; it gets breezy on the water.
