The Kennedy Space Center is a solid half- to full-day experience if you're into space, engineering, or just want something different from theme parks. Expect a mix of museum-style exhibits, real flight hardware including retired shuttles and rockets, and a couple of decent simulators. The bus tour to the launch complex gives you a sense of scale, though you won't get extremely close to active pads. It's educational without being stuffy—most adults and older kids enjoy it, younger ones may get bored after a couple of hours.
Best time is fall through early spring (October–April) when it's cooler and less humid; summers are brutally hot and the crowds are thicker. Expect to pay around $80–$160 per adult depending on whether you drive yourself or book a round-trip tour from Orlando with transport. Add food, souvenirs, or an optional “up-close” tour and it climbs quickly toward $200+ per person.
Honest tip: Do the main bus tour and the Shuttle Launch Experience simulator; skip the paid add-on astronaut lunch unless you really want the photo op—it's overpriced and the food is average. If you're short on time or energy, just drive yourself instead of taking the guided transport from Orlando; you'll have more flexibility and save money.
