Expect moderate crowds, lots of photo stops, and a mix of impressive scale and repetitive decoration. Bahia Palace is the most popular; it gives the clearest sense of grand riad living with its multiple courtyards and painted rooms. The El Badi Palace is ruined and more atmospheric but less ornate. Most visits last 45–90 minutes. The experience is pleasant and photogenic but rarely mind-blowing unless you enjoy Islamic architecture or history.

Best time is spring (March–May) or autumn (October–November) when it’s warm but not brutally hot. Avoid midday in summer; go early morning or late afternoon. Expect to pay around $12–25 for a standard palace entry plus guided tour. A half-day combined tour with other sites usually lands between $35–70 per person including transport and a guide. Private tours cost noticeably more but give you breathing room.

Pick Bahia if you want the classic decorated palace look; skip the Saadian Tombs if you’re short on time—they’re small and often crowded.
