The Perot Museum of Nature and Science is a solid, modern museum with strong dinosaur exhibits, a nice planetarium, and engaging hands-on science floors that work well for both adults and kids. Expect a clean, bright building with four main levels; you can comfortably see the highlights in 2–2.5 hours. It’s not life-changing if you’ve visited top-tier natural history museums, but it’s one of the better things to do with families in Dallas and stays interesting even on a solo visit. Crowds are manageable on weekdays.

Best time to visit is fall (late September–November) or spring (March–early May) when temperatures are pleasant for walking between downtown attractions. Summer is brutally hot and busier with camps; winter can be cold and windy. Expect to pay around $25–$35 per adult including one special exhibit or add-on like the planetarium; kids and locals with membership pay less. Parking in the attached garage adds roughly $10–15.

Honest tips: Prioritize the dinosaur hall and the upper-level Earth sciences exhibits—they’re the strongest parts. Skip or deprioritize the lower-level “being human” section if you’re short on time; it feels dated. If you’re only in Dallas for a day or two, pair it with the nearby Dallas Arts District rather than trying to do the whole museum plus every special exhibit in one visit.
