Expect a mix of fun and chaos. Most tours take you into the Palmeraie, the huge palm grove north of the city, where you ride on sandy tracks between palm trees, through small villages and across dusty fields. The quads are usually automatic and easy to handle after five minutes of practice, but the riding style is fast and bouncy. You'll get covered in dust, especially in a group. A typical outing lasts 2–3 hours including pickup from your riad, a quick safety briefing, 45–60 minutes of actual riding, and a mint tea stop. It's genuinely enjoyable if you like being outdoors and moving, but it's not a serene desert experience — more like a lively, slightly bumpy excursion.
Best time is October to April when it's cooler and the sun isn't brutal. Summer rides are possible but exhausting in 40°C+ heat. Expect to pay around $45–85 per person depending on group size, duration, and whether they include hotel transfer and photos. Private tours or sunset departures sit at the higher end.
Pick a sunset trip if you can — the light is much better and the temperature drops. Skip anything that promises to take you into the Atlas Mountains or "deep desert" on a half-day quad; those are usually rushed and disappointing. Go with a smaller group if possible so you're not stuck behind twenty other quads eating their dust the whole time.
