The tour takes you into a live underground river system inside limestone caves. Expect to wade and swim through cool, clear water (about chest-deep at times), walk on slippery paths, and admire massive stalactites, stalagmites, and rock formations while a guide explains the geology. The route is mostly in darkness except for your headlamp and occasional colored lights. It lasts roughly 3–3.5 hours total including transport, with about 1.5–2 hours actually inside the cave system. The water stays around 72°F year-round so it feels refreshing rather than cold once you move. Groups are usually 8–15 people.
Best time to go is November through April when it's drier above ground and water levels inside are lower and clearer. Expect to pay around $80–$130 per person depending on whether you choose the standard tour, the one with a zipline, or add transportation from your hotel. Independent taxis or rideshares to the site are cheaper than the bundled pickup if you're staying in the Hotel Zone.
Skip the photos package—they're overpriced and the guides take decent shots anyway. Wear water shoes or sturdy closed-toe sandals with good grip; flip-flops are a bad idea on wet rock. Bring a change of clothes for the ride back.
