The Royal Route walk in Warsaw takes you from the Old Town through Łazienki Park and on to Wilanów Palace. Expect a pleasant but long day of palaces, baroque churches, leafy parks, and the occasional Soviet-era building interrupting the historic scenery. The path itself is mostly flat and easy, but it stretches about 10 km if you go all the way. In the parks you'll find peacocks, swans on the water, and locals jogging or picnicking. It's a solid half-day (or full day with stops) that mixes sightseeing with green space, though parts near busy roads can feel less romantic than the name suggests.
Best time is late spring through early autumn. May and September usually offer comfortable temperatures and fewer crowds than the peak summer months. In winter the route is still walkable but the parks lose their charm under grey skies and you’ll want warmer layers. Expect to pay around $15–45 total per person depending on whether you do it independently with a guide app, join a small group walking tour, or add museum entries and a quick lunch.
Pick the section from the Presidential Palace through Łazienki Park if your time is limited — that’s the most rewarding stretch. Skip trying to reach Wilanów on foot unless you really enjoy long urban hikes; the last part is less interesting and the palace is easier to reach by tram or taxi. Bring comfortable shoes and a water bottle — the route has plenty of benches but not always convenient shops.
