Expect a solid half-day science museum with hands-on exhibits covering physics, biology, space, and engineering. It’s clean, well-maintained, and popular with families, so it gets loud and crowded on weekends and holidays. The planetarium and giant screen theater are the strongest parts; many of the interactive floors feel a bit dated compared to top-tier science centers but still keep kids engaged for a few hours. Plan on 3–4 hours max unless you’re really into it.
Best time is weekday mornings during fall or spring. Summers are brutally hot and the center fills with local camps, while December–January sees peak tourist crowds. Expect to pay around $30–45 per adult and $20–35 per child including one add-on like the planetarium or IMAX-style film. Parking is extra and not cheap.
Tip: prioritize the planetarium and the big-screen theater over the lower-level exhibits. Skip the aging “KidsTown” area if you don’t have very young children; it’s the most crowded and least impressive section. Bring snacks—outside food isn’t allowed but you’ll want something after all the walking.
