A Seine river cruise is one of the easiest ways to see Paris from a different angle. Expect a relaxed, one-hour loop that passes under bridges and in front of Notre-Dame, the Louvre, Eiffel Tower, and Musée d’Orsay. The boats are modern with big windows and open upper decks when weather allows. Commentary is usually available via headset in several languages; some boats skip it entirely and just play music. It’s pleasant but not life-changing—think efficient sightseeing rather than a romantic voyage. Crowds are common in the center, so don’t expect solitude.
Spring and early fall (April–June and September–October) are the sweet spot: milder crowds, better chance of decent weather, and longer daylight. Summer evenings are popular for sunset views but can be hot and packed. Winter cruises run too and are surprisingly peaceful, though you’ll stay inside and the days are short. Expect to pay around €15–€25 for a basic daytime cruise; dinner cruises start at €60–€120 depending on length and food quality.
Pick a short daytime or sunset cruise without dinner unless you really want the full evening package—most people find the food mediocre for the price. Sit on the starboard side when heading west for the best Eiffel Tower views. Skip the overpriced dinner boats; you’re better off eating on land and taking a separate evening cruise instead.
