The Skydeck sits on the 103rd floor of the Willis Tower and gives you 360-degree views that can stretch 50 miles on a clear day, reaching into four states. The main draw is The Ledge – those glass boxes that extend out from the building so you stand on a transparent floor with nothing but air between you and the street 1,353 feet below. Expect a fair bit of waiting in line, some crowds, and a short but intense thrill if you actually step out onto the glass. The whole visit usually takes 60-90 minutes including security, elevators, and photos. It’s genuinely high and the scale is impressive, but it can feel touristy and a little chaotic.
Go in late spring or early fall if you can; summer weekends get packed and winter can mean fog or ice that kills the view. Expect to pay around $30–$45 per adult for basic timed tickets, more if you add express entry or a photo package. Book ahead online to pick your time slot.
Tip: Choose a clear weekday morning for the shortest lines and best visibility. Skip the overpriced on-site photos and just use your own camera or phone – the views are the same. If heights really bother you, the regular indoor observation deck is plenty impressive without stepping onto the glass.
