Most Miami snorkeling tours take you to shallow reefs or wrecks in Biscayne Bay or slightly farther out toward the Keys. Expect 3–4 hours total: 45–90 minutes in the water split across one or two spots, plus time motoring, getting fitted, and a short eco-talk. The water is usually warm and calm, visibility ranges from 15–40 feet depending on recent weather, and you’ll see tropical fish, small rays, maybe a barracuda or sea turtle. It’s genuinely relaxing rather than thrilling – perfect for beginners or families. Boats carry 10–30 people; some have shade and decent snacks, others are more basic.
Best time is April through early October when the water is warmest and seas are flattest. Winter can be breezy with cooler water (72–75°F) and more canceled trips. Expect to pay around $55–$130 per person. Shorter bay trips sit at the low end; longer reef or Key West combos push toward the high end and usually include food and better gear.
Pick a smaller morning departure if you want decent visibility and fewer crowds. Skip the big party-style boats with loud music and water toys – they’re more floating bar than snorkel trip. Bring your own mask and snorkel if you have them; rental gear is often average.
