A typical Doha yacht or dhow cruise takes you slowly along the bay, past the skyline, the Museum of Islamic Art, and the Pearl development. Expect 1.5 to 3 hours of calm water, decent air conditioning or open deck space depending on the boat, and basic refreshments. The experience is pleasant rather than spectacular – you get a relaxed, slightly different angle on the city, especially pretty at sunset when the lights come on. It’s not a party boat or a luxury superyacht for most operators; think comfortable mid-range vessel with seating, music, and a guide who points out landmarks. Families, couples, and small groups of friends do this regularly.
Best time is November to mid-April when it’s actually enjoyable to be on deck; summer cruises are brutally hot even in the evening. Expect to pay around $35–$85 per person depending on duration, whether it includes a meal, and how many people share the boat. Private charters obviously sit at the higher end. Book a traditional wooden dhow over a modern motor yacht if you want character; skip the ones that advertise “dinner cruise” unless you’re happy with a basic buffet – the food is rarely the highlight.
