A typical Cancun canopy tour lasts 3.5–5 hours door-to-door and mixes 8–12 zip lines with short jungle hikes, rappels, and usually a cenote swim or quick ATV segment. You’ll be harnessed the whole time, following guides who clip and unclip you. Expect speeds up to 35 mph on the longer lines, plenty of jungle views, and a fair bit of waiting at platforms while groups rotate. It’s physical but not technical—most people with average fitness do fine. The cenote swim at the end is the part many remember most: cool, clear water after being hot and sweaty in the harness.
December through March brings the nicest weather—less heat, lower rain chance—but also bigger crowds and slightly higher prices. Expect to pay around $90–$160 per person depending on whether you add transportation, photos, or combine it with ATVs. Tours that leave early (around 7–8 a.m.) avoid the worst midday heat and afternoon thunderstorms common in summer.
Pick the version that includes the cenote swim; skip the long ATV add-on if you mainly want to zipline—extra bumpy riding just eats time and energy. Bring water shoes or sneakers that can get wet, quick-dry clothes, and reef-safe sunscreen. Leave expensive cameras behind; the included GoPro-style photos are usually good enough and less hassle.
