Batu Caves is a series of limestone caves located 13 km north of Kuala Lumpur in Gombak, Selangor, containing Hindu temples with the most prominent being a shrine dedicated to Murugan, marked by a 43-meter tall gold statue. Visitors explore the cave complex to witness religious sites, view Hindu mythological art and statues, and observe the annual Thaipusam festival, one of Malaysia's major Tamil Hindu celebrations. The caves, formed over 400 million years ago, feature stalactites, stalagmites, and are accessible via 272 concrete steps constructed in 1940.
