Our Lady of the Rocks is an artificial islet off the coast of Perast in Montenegro's Bay of Kotor, built over centuries as local seamen threw rocks into the sea following an oath made after discovering a Madonna icon in 1452. The Catholic Church on the islet houses a museum featuring 68 baroque paintings by 17th-century artist Tripo Kokolja, Italian artworks, votive paintings and tablets, and a famous tapestry embroidered over 25 years by a woman waiting for her beloved's return.
