The Royal Monastery of San Jerónimo is the first Christian monastery founded by the Catholic Monarchs following the reconquest of Granada in 1492, initially established in the Christian camp of Santa Fe before relocating to the center of Granada in 1503. Visitors can explore this historic religious site featuring a principal cloister built in 1593, the Chapel Mayor with its retablo begun in 1557, and murals created by Juan de Medina's workshop in 1723, while discovering its significant role as the burial place of the Gran Capitán and its occupation through centuries of Spanish history.
