
Osaka Castle is a historic Japanese castle in Chūō-ku, Osaka, built in 1583 by Toyotomi Hideyoshi as a five-story main keep with underground stories and gold leaf decoration, playing a major role in Japan's unification during the sixteenth century. Visitors can explore the castle grounds covering approximately 61,000 square metres, which contain thirteen important cultural structures including multiple gates, turrets, a well, storehouse, and gardens, surrounded by distinctive inner and outer moats with defensive fortifications.
