The Wadsworth-Longfellow House is the oldest standing brick structure on the Portland peninsula, built in 1785–1786 and home to poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow during his youth and early adulthood. Visitors tour this two-story Federal-era house, designated a National Historic Landmark in 1962 and meticulously restored to its mid-nineteenth century character, to explore the lives of three generations of a prominent New England family and access the museum's exhibition gallery.
