Tour the 1928 Swan House mansion and the Civil War-era Cyclorama painting with a private curator who unpacks the estate's Gilded Age and Hunger Games history.
What to expect
You'll start in the Swan House's formal gardens and marble entry hall, hearing how the Inman family lived here in the 1920s and how the mansion later became a filming location. Then you move to the Cyclorama building to see the massive, recently restored circular painting of the Battle of Atlanta, narrated in real time. The 33-acre campus also holds preserved farmland and Civil War earthworks if you have extra time.
Good to know
The History Center is in Buckhead, about 20 minutes from downtown — factor in traffic both ways. Private tour add-ons should be arranged in advance by phone.
