Become an Altbier connoisseur in just two hours, moving through five legendary microbreweries in Düsseldorf's animated Altstadt. This intimate, expert-led safari is the most authentic liquid journey through Germany's most spirited old town.
What to expect
Your guide meets you at the Schlossturm, the historic gateway to the Altstadt, and leads you on a gentle stroll between five working craft breweries. At each stop the copper-brown Altbier is poured straight from wooden casks by white-aproned Köbes (traditional servers). You'll learn the centuries-old brewing traditions, taste food pairings, and understand why Düsseldorfers regard their Altbier with fierce, almost religious pride. The tour ends in a cosy brewpub where you can linger over a final round at your own pace.
Good to know
Pre-book directly online or via Visit Düsseldorf's hotline — walk-ins are rarely accommodated. The Altstadt is a 10–15 minute taxi or tram ride from the cruise dock; allow a 30-minute buffer before all-aboard. Wear comfortable shoes; cobblestones abound.
