What to expect
You board a 12-seat rib at Anstruther harbour for a scenic 45-minute crossing across the Firth of Forth, often spotting seals and dolphins en route. Once landed, you have 2-3 hours to wander cliff-top trails past thousands of nesting seabirds, with puffins waddling within feet of the path April-July. There's also a small visitor centre and the ruins of a 12th-century priory to explore.
Good to know
Book weeks ahead in peak puffin season (May-July); trips are weather-dependent and can be cancelled at short notice, so don't schedule this for your last possible sailing day. Bring waterproofs for the rib crossing regardless of forecast.
