Casa del Duca: Carloforte's One True Museum, Unhurried

See the island's Genoese-Tabarkin story told properly in a quiet historic house, without a crowd — the museum every guidebook mentions but almost no one actually visits.

What to expect

Inside a restored historic residence, exhibits trace the 18th-century resettlement of Ligurians from Tabarka to San Pietro, with period rooms, maps, and fishing artifacts. A private docent can unlock context that the labels alone don't convey, tying the exhibits to families still living in town today. It's a short visit, but a dense one.
