What to expect
Your host walks you through rows of vanilla vines explaining the hand-pollination process unique to this valley, then into the curing sheds where beans dry for months. A short transfer takes you to the small rum distillery for a tasting of cane spirits made from local sugarcane, with the distiller on hand to talk through the process.
Good to know
Wear closed shoes for the field walk; the site is inland so factor in a short drive from the dock. Morning visits avoid the heat and let you see pollination work if it's in season.
