Walk 1km inside a 2,500-year-old aqueduct tunnel dug through solid rock from both ends, meeting in the middle. A staggering feat of ancient engineering, and genuinely thrilling underground.
What to expect
You'll descend stone steps into a narrow rock-cut passage, walking stooped in places along the original water channel. Lighting is dim and atmospheric, and the scale of the 6th-century-BC engineering becomes viscerally clear. It's cool underground even in summer heat, a welcome contrast to the island above.
Good to know
About 20 minutes' walk or a short taxi from the port; opens 08:00, so go first thing to beat heat and crowds. Wear sturdy shoes — the tunnel floor is uneven and sections require ducking.
