Ano Meria: A Half-Day in Folegandros' Working Village

Visit the scattered farming village of Ano Meria and its Folklore Museum, where island life continues largely unchanged — threshing floors, stone farmhouses, and terraced fields.

What to expect

Ano Meria isn't a single village center but a scatter of farmhouses and small chapels along a ridge road. The Folklore Museum, housed in a preserved farmstead, shows original tools, looms, and living quarters exactly as islanders used them a century ago. Stop at a family taverna along the way for local cheese and honey.

Good to know

Reachable by local bus or taxi from Karavostasis (about 20-25 minutes); the museum keeps limited hours, so confirm it's open before you go, typically mornings and early evening.
