Glide 412 metres above sea level in a modern cable car, then stand on the Rock's summit with Spain behind you and Morocco ahead — a perspective that has awed explorers for centuries. Europe and Africa, framed in one extraordinary viewpoint.
What to expect
The sleek gondola lifts you from the town centre terminus in just six minutes, trading the bustle of Main Street for 360-degree silence at the summit. On a clear day the Atlas Mountains of Morocco hang on the horizon and the Costa del Sol curves away to the north-east. Barbary macaques roam freely near the top station — calm, curious, and utterly memorable. Descend on foot via the Nature Reserve paths or ride back down and explore the cable car's mid-station Ape's Den.
Good to know
The cable car operates from approximately 09:30; first cars fill quickly on cruise days, so arrive early. Buy tickets in advance at naturereserve.gi to skip the queue. The summit can be breezy — bring a light layer. Allow at least 1.5–2 hours for the full experience.
