Glide the full breadth of Geirangerfjord on the iconic car-and-passenger ferry, drifting past the Seven Sisters, the Suitor, and the Bridal Veil in one continuous, 65-minute open-deck panorama. This is the classic UNESCO World Heritage crossing — timeless, unhurried, utterly Norwegian.
What to expect
Step aboard from the village pier and claim a spot on the open upper deck as the ferry swings out into the deep-blue fjord. The cliff walls close in within minutes, and successive waterfalls appear one by one — first the lacy Bridal Veil, then the dramatic seven-strand Sisters, their mirror image the Suitor opposite. In Geiranger you have time to stroll the waterfront, visit the Norwegian Fjord Centre, or simply savour the view before the return crossing. The light on the return journey, often different from the morning, is a photographer's gift.
