Lynch-Bages is the great crowd-pleaser of Pauillac's Grands Crus — a 5th Growth that drinks like a 2nd, beloved worldwide. Its restored village of Bages, with artisan boutiques and Café Lavinal, makes it a full sensory experience beyond the cellar.
What to expect
The guided cellar tour moves through the state-of-the-art vinification hall and into the barrel cellar, where your host decodes the philosophy behind Lynch-Bages' distinctively generous, fruit-forward style. Tasting covers current vintages in a relaxed, welcoming format — this estate is famous for its hospitality. Afterwards, the village of Bages is yours to wander: grab a glass at Café Lavinal, pick up a bottle in the wine shop, or simply absorb the atmosphere of a perfectly preserved wine hamlet.
Good to know
Lynch-Bages is approx. 2 km from the port — an easy taxi or even a pleasant walk along the estuary path. Pre-book tastings online; walk-ins are sometimes possible but not guaranteed. Allow 2–3 hours including village time. Café Lavinal is excellent for a light lunch.
