The Breakers: Exclusive Private Guided Mansion Tour

Step inside the grandest of Newport's Gilded Age palaces — the Vanderbilt family's 70-room Italian Renaissance palazzo — on an exclusive private guided experience. This is bucket-list Newport at its most opulent.

What to expect

Your private guide unlocks the story of Cornelius Vanderbilt II's summer 'cottage' — all 70 rooms, grand reception halls, the Great Hall with its 45-foot gilded ceiling, and the oceanside loggia. The pace is entirely yours, with the guide weaving in scandalous Gilded Age gossip and architectural detail. Finish on the sweeping rear terrace overlooking the Atlantic for a photograph that defines Newport. Two business days' advance notice is required; book directly with the Preservation Society.
