Stand inside the legendary walls of Troy — all nine stratified cities stacked across 4,000 years — guided privately by an archaeologist or specialist Aegean historian. The Trojan Horse, Schliemann's trenches, and Homeric myth come alive in stunning detail.
What to expect
Your expert guide meets you at Çanakkale port for the short 30-minute drive to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Troy (Truva). You enter the site before larger groups arrive and walk the well-preserved walls of Troy VI (the Homeric city), the Roman Odeon, the sacred temple precinct, and the reconstructed wooden Trojan Horse. The guide contextualises each layer — Neolithic through Byzantine — with vivid storytelling. A visit to the excellent on-site Troy Museum, whose collection includes gold jewellery and Schliemann artefacts, completes the experience.
Good to know
Troy is approximately 30 km south of Çanakkale — about 30 minutes by private car. Allow 4–5 hours including the museum. Troy Museum entry is included when booking a private guided tour. Confirm all-aboard time with your ship; most itineraries allow a comfortable return. Book directly well in advance for private historian availability.
