Spend a blissful afternoon at Huahine's most stunning white-sand bay, Avea, with direct access to the legendary Coral Garden snorkel site — some of the healthiest hard coral in all of French Polynesia, alive with tropical fish and turtles.
What to expect
A short, scenic boat ride from Fare delivers you to the southern tip of Huahine-Iti, where Avea Bay curves in a perfect crescent of powder-white sand backed by ironwood trees. You'll wade straight from shore into the Coral Garden, a shallow reef labyrinth of branching and plate corals in brilliant colours, home to parrotfish, triggerfish, surgeonfish, and — if the timing is right — green sea turtles gliding serenely overhead. After snorkelling, the beach is yours: a lounger under the palms, a cold coconut, and a view of the lagoon that defines the word 'paradise.' Few places in French Polynesia feel this untouched.
Good to know
The Coral Garden is best visited mid-morning before afternoon trade winds ruffle the surface. Reef-safe sunscreen is mandatory — your guide will enforce this. Allow 3–4 hours for the full experience. Book directly with Poetaina by email or phone; confirm transfers back to Fare pier with your all-aboard time clearly stated.
