Touch down on the surface of one of North America's most dramatic tidewater glaciers by private helicopter. A 90-minute aerial and on-ice experience that belongs on every serious bucket list.
What to expect
Your pilot sweeps low over Prince William Sound's fjords before setting down on Columbia Glacier's surface, where you step out onto centuries-old ice. A certified glacier guide leads a short walk among seracs and meltwater streams, narrating the glacier's geology and ecology. The return flight circles the calving face for jaw-dropping aerial photography. Groups are kept deliberately tiny — typically four to six guests — so the experience feels entirely private.
Good to know
Book well in advance; summer slots sell out fast. Flight duration is weather-dependent — Valdez weather can change quickly, so flexibility in your ship's schedule is an asset. Confirm all-aboard time with your ship and allow at least 30 minutes buffer; the heliport is minutes from the cruise dock.
