What to expect
Your private guide walks you through the KRI Pasopati 410, a Whiskey-class Soviet submarine decommissioned in 1989 and now resting on the Kalimas riverbank as a monument to Indonesia's naval history. Climb through narrow hatches, inspect torpedo tubes, periscopes, and the crew quarters, while your guide narrates the vessel's dramatic service life. The afternoon continues along the waterfront to the Suramadu Bridge viewpoint — its 5.4 km span connecting Java to Madura island in one spectacular arc.
Good to know
The submarine interior can be tight — not recommended for guests with severe claustrophobia. Monkasel is approximately 20 minutes from the cruise terminal by private car. The Suroboyo Monument and nearby New Kenjeran Beach can be added to the afternoon for a fuller waterfront itinerary. Comfortable flat shoes recommended.
