Cross the breathtaking Pont de Normandie — one of the world's great cable-stayed bridges, spanning the Seine estuary in a single elegant arc — then ascend to the Panorama Mont-Joli for an unbroken view over Honfleur's rooftops, the estuary and the open Channel. Pure Norman grandeur.
What to expect
Depart the quayside and drive the dramatic approach to the Pont de Normandie, whose twin towers rise 215 metres above the Seine — pausing at the dedicated viewpoint for photographs before crossing the bridge's 856-metre main span. The estuary below is a vast, silver-grey theatre of container ships, river barges and wheeling gulls. From the bridge, the route winds up through beech forest to the Chapelle Notre-Dame de Grâce, a place of active pilgrimage since 1600, before reaching the Panorama Mont-Joli viewpoint where the entire port of Honfleur lies below you. Return to town via the Naturospace tropical butterfly house if time allows. Approximately 3 hours.
Good to know
Best done in the morning when the light falls across the estuary from the east. The Chapelle Notre-Dame de Grâce is free to enter and deeply atmospheric. Arrange private transport via the Honfleur Tourist Office or a local taxi (approx. EUR 30–40 for the loop). All sites are within 20 minutes of the port, making this ideal if your all-aboard is early.
